Slow and Steady

15 miles

2:23:26 - 9:53 pace.

So slow. I mean, it started out great. I don’t know if it was the compression socks, or the Clif bar I ate beforehand, or the Advil I took (my saving grace) but I started out quite jolly-ly. I mean, I was running a decent pace and I was comfortable.

Where I ran miles 10-15.

Miles 1-6 - 9:30min/mile.

Miles 6-12 - 10:00min/mile.

Miles 13-14 - 10:30min/mile.

Last .5 miles - 11:00min/mile.

And when I mean that pace, it means I literally was within +/- 0:05 of that pace. My body is crazy. Anyways, it got quite painful at the end. I think this will be my longest distance this year, and I’ll just work on running 10k’s in the middle of week to keep up my base mileage. But 25 miles/week seems to be good for me, while 30+ miles a week (like this week) is unpleasant and let’s be honest, really time consuming.

But now, I’ve made myself a protein smoothie, AND OMG GUYS THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER.

EVER.

It contains:

1/2 cup chocolate almond milk (aka crack) - 60 cals

1 cup mixed berries (frozen mix) - 90 cals

1 packet Isobolic Sustained Release Protein Matrix in Chocolate - 110 cals

1/2 cup water

(put them in in this order)

(mix)

===> VOILA. AMAZINGNESS IN YOUR MOUTH. FOR 260 CALS. AMAZING, I TELL YOU.

(So amazing, it deserves all caps).
